Pursuing Scholarships...

hi, i go to Penn State-branch campus transferring probably to main campus 2 semesters from now.

Anyways my gpa will probably be 4.00 this semester, which will bring my cum gpa at 3.4

Because the college i go to is so small, the college as a whole offers scholarships not each individual college within the university. I went office this week to inquire about some sort of scholarship for Fall 2005 and they told me they already gave out all their scholarships they offer to students already for FALL 2005. My major is business related- not sure though what specific concentration i will settle on if that helps. I want to go to the Smeal Business school up at main campus, and she told me up there the schools within the university offer the scholarships, so my best bet would be obtaining something from the Smeal Business school but the problem i run into there is the qualifications up there for obtaining scholarship are much harder than at branch campuses. Even though the branch campus offers a small amount, you only need 3.0 cum gpa up at U. Park you need many times 3.8 so probably the scholarship itself is more , i dont know???

Can someone give me any info on obtaining some sort of scholarship, what can i do to raise my chances. Is 3.4cum gpa enough? I just became aquainted with FastWeb but that seems unhelpful with all the advertising throughout the site and they scholarships like do you bowl then you can get 2,000 and so on, i dont know it seemed a bit shady to me. Are those type of scholarships valid?

Fastweb is pretty reliable, and it's the best place to search for a whole bunch of scholarships at once. If anyone knows a better site, feel free to share, because the other sites I have can't compared with fastweb.

My son received a scholarship we learned about from fastweb-it's the AXA Community Achievement Scholarship-$2000.

Yeah, fastweb is actually pretty good. I found about 7 scholarships that I applied for there. If you can deal with their intertwined text ads in your scholarship results and the local ads after logging in (make sure you always select NO - lol) then FastWeb is definitely a good site. Hopefully I'll win at least 1 of the ones I applied for (plus the other 7 local school/town affiliated ones).

However, be warned that most of the scholarships listed on Fastweb are very competitive.

Best of luck to you!!
