pushed to RD; letter seemed optimistic?

hi. i was pushed into RD at nova and im extremely bummed about it because nova is my #1 choice. anyway, when they notified me that i did not make the cut for EA and that i was to be placed in RD, their letter seemed very hopeful in that my RD decision changes might be pretty good. did anyone else get this vibe from their notification ony mynova? or are there a few different versions of RD letters being sent to EA applicants? any feedback would be great. thanks!

Same here. I got deferred to Regular Decision which is unfortunate since I love Villanova. I think the letters they sent out are the same for everyone for those who got deferred.

What did yours say that seemed optimistic?

mine basically said that we reserve the right to reevaluate your application. this year was the biggest EA pool blah blah blah.

im pretty sure they all said the same thing

they probably did…mine said…

The Committee on Admission has completed a careful and holistic review of your application for Villanova University’s Early Action program.

This year, the Office of University Admission experienced the largest pool of Early Action applicants in the University’s history. While there were several aspects of your credentials that impressed our Committee, we have decided to reserve judgment on your application under our traditional Regular Decision program. I would like to make you aware that the majority of our incoming freshman class will be drawn from the Regular Decision group.

Our decision in no way reflects upon your achievements to this point, but rather is related to an extremely competitive pool of Early Action candidates. Let me personally assure you that you will be given every consideration for Regular Decision admission for Villanova and that our decision will be forthcoming in late March.

This brings best wishes for a successful remainder of your senior year, and I thank you for your continued interest in Villanova University.

these lines seemed “optimistic” to me…

Maybe it’s just me trying to be hopeful, but I was just wondering if every single person was sent the same letter or not

My daughter received the exact same letter.

im sure that letter is just a pure crap to express their happiness of getting $70 from us and rejecting us. every single defer letter is same

its a little upsetting to read it, just b/c i didnt get in. hopefully when RD rolls around, well all be accepted

EA applicants who don’t get in,are ALL placed on deferred status…Very few are eventually accepted…

how do you know

I recieved the exact same letter. Luckily, I wasn’t overestatic about Villanova, but it was pretty depressing. I hope you do get accepted RD though… good luck! :)

thanks mare_crisium! i really hope i get in; im crossing my fingers. what schools are you interested in?

Hahaha, well I applied EA to the Liberal Arts college at Villanova, but I was accepted ED to Lafayette, so i’m thankfully done with the college process  Its a wonderful feeling

P.S: I’m no expert at this, but I do know someone who was deferred at VU a couple of years ago and accepted later… what I would do is take the SAT IIs and try to raise your scores, and just e-mail them with supplemental information letting them know how much you want to go there. You might even want to send extra teacher recommendations. I hope it works out for you!

WOW! lafayette?! THAT’S AWESOME! Congrats!!!

Yeah, I was thinking about the SAT IIs but I doubt that would help. Also, someone was telling me send teacher recommendations…I didn’t send one, I thought on their website they said to only send the GC’s letter which made me soooo mad cause I LOVED my teacher rec’s but thanks for the advice!! Did you by any chance send in any teacher rec’s?

Also, Congrats again! :)
