Wait until after May 1st (the deadline for everyone accepted to make a decision).

Yes, my admissions counselor said nobody will hear anything until May 1st.
And about the housing…there will probably be housing available, just maybe not your top choice. Try to find a roommate who got in and signed their contract early (that’s what i’m going to try and do!).

I don’t think housing works that way. For A&M, the roommate who requests you will be set back by your late application.

Will contacting them to show interest increase your chances? How exactly do they decide which waitlist students to admit?

That really is how the housing assignments work at UT.

Whichever of the two roommates put their application in first is gives the pair their priority for their dorm room.

I GOT IN!!! go check your status check

Congrats samster_72! UT is an awesome university. You got here just in time for our national championship in football this coming season.

Good to see UT going to the wait list.

Fiyero, I hope we become national champs this year but it’s not gonna happen. Being a UT fan, I don’t think we have the talent to win it all. We don’t have enough playmakers. Are only star is Colt McCoy and even though we had a good recruiting class, freshman aren’t gonna do much this year. I hate to say it but I also think that we are gonna get blown out by OU next season, they clearly have superior talent. I think UT will have its best shot at the national title in 1-2 years after this coming season. Connor Wood is gonna be a superstar QB, better than Vince and Colt, and our great recruits will have more experience.

Our basketball is gonna be a lot better this year because we had amazing recruits. Hopefully we’ll be a top 10 basketball program after getting the number 1 player in the country, Avery Bradley. With that said, there is still no way we are gonna be champs in basketball either.

^ OU only has one returning offensive lineman. Bradford will get sacked. UT has a very good chance of being the Big 12 champs b/c TT & Missouri are in rebuilding mode. I believe UT has the talent to beat OU again this upcoming year.
Connor Wood? Garrett Gilbert is much better and will be the next superstar QB for Texas after McCoy is gone.

John Wall is the number one player in the country lol. But if Damion James comes back for his senior year, Avery Bradley & Jordan Hamilton will probably get the longhorns to the Elite Eight.

Woohoo! I got accepted? Now what do I need to do to get a dorm with a private bathroom. Someone help me!

Congratulations sprintuser!

About the dorm room - Did you already apply for housing? When?

I really think that living on campus is better, but if a private bathroom is your top priority and you have not yet done the initial application for housing, I do not think you are likely to get a room in one of the dorms that has private bathrooms. (Just my opinion) You could look at the private dorms.

Thank! I didn’t know you could apply before being accepted so I haven’t done that. I prefer living on campus for the first year and it would be great if I could find one with a private dorm.

If I know someone who has applied earlier, will having them request me as roommate increase the chances of getting one with a private bathroom?

Yes. The way room assignment priority works at UT, if you can find someone who applied for housing earlier and the two of you list each other as roommates, your room will be assigned according to that person’s priority.

I got in yesterday off the wait list!

Congratulations john1989!

I just made a $200 enrollment and $50 housing deposit. The problem is that I don’t see an option to choose my dorm preference. Is it no longer offered because it is so late?

^^^ Nevermind, I just had to wait for them to offer me a contract.

I got off the waitlist too:)
But I’m already going to a different school anyway so it doesn’t really matter
Yeaaa I am now rejecting their offer so that some one else can get off the wait list that actually wants to go

you know what sucks? theres a chic in my class that got into you UT. Took 2 AP classes her entire high school career (AP english). Since only the ranks up till jr year counted an our junior year english teacher was a total ditz, she was at the edge of the top ten percent and got into UT. her SAT score is like 1500. I read one of her essays, it sounds like my three year old neice, except when my neice talks, its actually cute, but this, this is pathetic.

i’m not being bitter or resentful, i got into UT so theres no reason for me to be like jealous or something. But it ****es me off when people taking like regular history and Algebra III (in our school, a class for 18 year olds who don’t know crap, get pregnant and get high… probably different in other schools though…) gets in when I know people that have wonderful SAT scores, in the top 11-12%, good extracurriculars, and hardworking students that don’t get in because they decided to challenge themselves.

I hope those of you who deserve admissions get off that waitlist or end up at a good school. :)

Sounds like your high school’s fault for having a poor ranking system, not the girl’s fault for taking advantage of it.

But congrats to all of you who got in off of the waitlist! I wonder if the economy had something to do with a lower yield, or if they were simply being pessimistic about the chances off the wait list.

And Texas will be far better than OU next year–Sam Bradford isn’t better than Colt McCoy, he lost his best receiver, and his line is terrible.

Texas really just lost Cosby and Orakpo. Jordan Shipley will be awesome if he’s healthy, and we will have some great young receivers coming up. Our running game will probably be better than last year if they avoid giving the ball to Vondrell McGee. And our defense is looking like it’s recover nicely from losing Orkapo and should be very strong.

I’m definitely hopeful.
