Okay, I really need as many awards as I can get. Seriously. My application is so pathetic and SO lacking in awards, it's not even funny. I have a 99% of being nominated to be a member of Quill and Scroll (it's usually just seniors at my school; rarely are there any underclassmen and these underclassmen are always juniors.) My advisor pretty much told me that the only one way I WOULDN'T be nominated is if I stopped showing up for yearbook lunch, not going to meetings, etc. which is never going to happen because I usually come in an EXTRA day or two after school and on weekends and I plan to come in during winter break. I asked my advisor and she said it would be all right if I put it on my application because I'd have to seriously mess up not to be nominated.

But in the end... should I put it on my application? I'm really not sure; I'm kind of wary of doing this. Granted I have permission from my advisor and all, but I'm still kind of iffy. Should I just not and save myself the anxiety? :/ Or maybe I can put something like "Quill & Scroll (awarded April/May 2007)?" I don't know. I could really use the award, though. ;_;

just put it, if they ask questions, then do the explaining...since youre "99%" sure, you'd better not die or somethin or mess up, cuz then you'd be lying

Awards are not all they are made out to be. I wouldn't bother with such a triviality, when the consequences for lying on an application are so severe. Your admission will NOT be affected either way.

Yeah you have a point knightshield... too bad I put it in for applications to 3 other schools already lol XD I guess I'll email the admissions people for those schools and tell them that I'm getting the award at the end of the year and I haven't received it yet and explain that my advisor said it was okay so that's why I put it. Ahck. Yeah. lol

I think I'll take your advice, STLFan2003 and have her put it in the rec instead. Yep yep yep. Thanks XD

Ethically it would be wrong, but admission officers are almost always too busy to check so you should be perfectly fine if you lied on ur application.

I wouldn't lie. You could say "Frengenberger Award, expected May, 2007." This is not a lie, and if they ask about it, just explain it.

Anecdote: My son is an Eagle Scout and is expecting to earn six Palms by his 18th birthday next June. He earned his fourth yesterday. To accurately reflect his Scouting record he wrote, "Eagle Scout with three palms to date, expect to earn another three by graduation." In his case, though, so few people earn Palms, and very few people know what they are, that I don't think anyone has asked him about them. (It'll really impress anyone who knows what they are, though.)
