Being part of choir at my school (and at most other schools I would imagine) involves being in a choir class. Since this is class time, should participation in the choir be noted on the activities page since it's not really academic and can serve as a club? My school even notes choir under the "clubs" list on its website.

Is it wise/allowed to split an activity that has competitions at multiple levels into multiple boxes? Say, SkillsUSA, one box each for regional/state/national competition and one box for leadership position in local chapter? Is that pushing it? I feel like it is.

It depends what your choir does, I think. My school’s choir (the class) travels around the city, has played for the pope, and goes to London. I think someone in that choir could list it as an activity.

yes, choir is an EC for you even tho it’s also a class. I have a similar sitation with two ECs (debate and AcDec). I’m listing both as ECs with the # of hrs only outside class. example: “Grades 9-12, 3 hrs/ week outside class plus about 8 tournament weekends/ year.” I would not think you would split any EC into multiple entries based on different levels or types of competitions.

Yes; band is a “class” at my school, but it still definitely counts as an EC. And I would combine all of the SkillsUSA things in one box, but mention the different levels in the details line.

It can certainly be noted as an extracurricular.

I would keep the same activity under one heading.

Edit: exactly what suitcases and others said :).

Thanks for the responses. In response to the splitting up activities part, my friend just argued to me that my track record (I’ve done quite a bit I think) within a certain organization would require much more than that extra 150 words + details line. Could I PM someone and then we’ll find a solution from there?

Edit: oops. After reading CLOSELY, I found out the Additional Info section is also included. Sweet.
