Putting in Contacts Before School

^ yeah Opti-Free is what I use, it's awesomeeeeee.

Sameee. My ophthalmologist went on and on about how other brands have lots of risks of infection but Opti-Free is perfecto. (:

i have acuvue oasis too. they work well for me, i've had em for 5 years.

It takes me around 15 minutes to get both contacts in every morning.

That's some hardcore failing going on there. Don't worry, after awhile, it'll "be like second nature", just as they said. It takes me roughly a 50 seconds to put mine on: 20 seconds to rub each contact, 10 seconds to put both on.

i've been wearing contact since the 5th grade! I remember that i had trouble with them in the beginning too. I needed a mirror, light, and both hands. Now i don't need a mirror, minimal light, and two fingers. it really does become second nature after a while.

suggestions: practice! can't hurt. when you put your contacts in stare at the contact so you don't miss. when you take them out use your thumb and index finger. that's what i do at least. and i get them in and out in the blink of an eye!

I wore contacts for around 2 days, and then decided I just didn't like them. Glasses are cool.

I just started wearing contacts around a month and a half ago. I absolutely SUCKED at it for the month it took the really nice lady to train me. One day, though, it just clicked.

If I go a while without wearing them, it'll take a bit more time to put them in, but right now it takes me a minute at most to put them in, and 10 seconds out. I have big hands and small eyes, so it's harder.:)

Gah, I think I got mine a couple weeks ago and I'm still not getting them in really fast- 5 minutes? Sometimes more because I have five cats and the hair gets EVERYWHERE...

Yeah, and most of the screwups I make are caused by my fingers being wet. Contact should be wet, finger should not be. Usually I grab my contact with my left hand and position it on my right middle finger, then maybe put an extra drop of solution in it. Then I hold my upper lid open with my left hand and use my right middle finger to hold down my bottom lid- then I stick it right on my pupil (usually, sometimes I have to do a little eye rolling to get them in the right place). Mine didn't feel really comfortable for about a week- now my eyes are dry but I can barely tell I have contacts in.

My favorite way to get them out is to open my eye, sort of poke my pupil and then rub the contact off to the side (away from my nose). Sometimes I have to use a second finger and keep rubbing it to the side- that usually breaks the seal it has with your eye and it slides out. I don't really like the "just grab it" method- it freaks me out a little.

It took me about 2-3 three months for me to be able to put them on in the first try. The trick is to find a certain way to put them in so that it goes on the first try. Evryones different but you gotta screw around bit, like move putting it in in different angles or moving you eyes in a different direction or moving you eye lids in a certain direction. Another thing is that no matter what when you first get them its gonna take a while because most likely as so as you put it in you eyes blink. Eventually itll stop doing this

It took me a month of wearing them to help me get used to putting them in

now it only takes me long if I'm extremely tired.

w00t w00t for only needing glasses to read.

it look me like another 20 minutes today to put contacts in.

how long did it take you guys before you became experts?

After having someone at the optometric office teach me how, I got it the second try.

It isn't hard if you do it fast and properly. Just pull your upper eyelid up and and your lower one down. Then just stick the contact on.

I have hard ones, so it is quite irritating when I first had them up. And after prob a school day or 6 hours my eyes get pretty dry.

But hey, everyone adjusts differently, so just take your time. Eventually it will become second nature to you.

Thank God for 20/20 vision :)

When I first started wearing contacts I was horrible at it, and there would always be stuff in it that would hurt so I had to keep taking them out. It was really bad. My dad would always yell at me and say I might as well forget contacts because I can't ever put them in. I refused, and now three years later I can put them in in a snap. It took awhile though, but just be patient. 15min isn't THAT long after all. :)

pshh..
pul-leeeze
don't even complain about soft contacts!!

i recently got the hard (RGP) contacts because it slows down/stops myopia(nearsightedness) progression
and lets an abundance of oxygen into your eyes, leading to increased eye health and reduced risk of infection

but when u first put the hard ones in, holy ****!!! feels like a rock is in your eyes!! it takes FOREVER to get used to =[

My friend has hard contacts that reshape her cornea... or something... so she only has to wear them at night and they improve her vision during the day. o__O

ohh yeah! i heard about those too
contact technology has been improving..
i'm more comfortable with my hard contacts since i got them
but if you get ANY little thing in your eye, you feel like it's being stabbed with a knife =/
and when you take them out, you have to blink them out! which is really weird and sometimes hurts, i'd rather touch my eye to take out a contact

i miss soft contacts soooo bad=[ but i don't want my vision to get worse

I'm still debating whether or not I should switch from my current glasses to contacts.

For those that have made the switch: were there any differences in your overall vision (assuming you didn't have any sort of change in prescription)?

by far, hard contacts (not soft)
are way more effective at stopping your vision from getting worse than glasses
because they reshape your cornea
you don't need to change your prescription after you get hard contacts

but it's nearly impossible to adapt to them because they hurt like a ***** at first!!
