Putting Liquid in Suit Case

I have a friend in college (21) that is having his birthday this Monday. I'm flying to college on Sunday. I decided to have a little fun and someone got me a bit of alcohol to give to this person for their birthday. I'm thinking of putting it in my suit case. Are you allowed to have alcohol in a suit case, and will they check my age if they notice it in my suit case?

Thanks

I think you are allowed to have liquids in your checked baggage but I'm not sure about checking your age if you have alcohol though.

From NWA:

[quote]
Northwest accepts alcoholic beverages in sealed retail packaging or in receptacles not exceeding 5 liters as checked luggage only. Passengers may carry a total quantity of 5 liters of alcohol per person.

Note: Beverages containing over 70% alcohol by volume will not be accepted.

I guess it depends on the airline.

it depends if you're carrying it on, or checking it, however, i would call the airliner and ask...
carry on - you're only allowed 3oz or less of liquids/gels...my dad had colenge (sp?) in his bag and they took it...i think the only thing they allow is sealed water bottles, but im not sure...
checked - i think they allow sealed containers, no matter what size

honestly, your best bet is to go on TSA website, they have a list of prohibited items > http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10
also, maybe call the airline and double check

note: if you plan to carry on, im sure its perfectly legal to check your ID because you're in posession...if you're not 21, i would check your bag...you can always mail it there ahead of time

You can put the bottle in your checked bag and it will probably be fine. You are allowed to check it. You used to be able to carry it on, but not anymore. If I were you I'd bubble-wrap the bottle so it doesn't break and wrap some clothes around it.

I highly doubt they will check your age when they are security checking the bags. I don't think finding underage possession is their primary concern when they are looking through probably thousands of bags for more pressing things.

Call your airline and ask, it's not that hard

As long as it is checked it doesn't matter. The new rules only apply to carry-on lugage. There is absolutly no way that they would care about you being underage. It does not say your specific age on the bags tag and with checked lugage that is all they check.

make sure you put it in a zip lock baggie maybe two or three, or use a plastic bottle.

We've had friends haul a bottle of booze on vacation only to find all their clothes a fine oak barrel aged scent. :)
