<p>I have this outstanding 800-word essay (a Stanford student read it and said it was fantastic) that would fit into the short essay question perfectly, but how much of a minus would it be to put a long essay for a "short essay question"?<br>
After all, the only thing that indicates it as a short essay is the title, and there is no word limit or "approximately 1 page" directions for it... only thing it says is "in the space provided" and my essay fits.</p>
<p>My “short essay” was well over a page, and I was still accepted. I think it is fine as long as it captures the reader’s attention.</p>
