I'm currently a sophomore, and right now I have Physics on my next year- junior year- schedule, but I wish to take it off because I know it will not be a strength and there are just other courses I'd rather have factor in to my gpa. The one I've signed up for is non- honors, because I have a heavy work load next year with 3 APs, 3 honors courses, and 2 non- honors (the two math- related ones- Physics and Precalculus). For all the reasons listed above, I want to switch Physics to senior year, and if I did, I'd take the honors one. However, I've heard somewhere that taking it junior year is recommended because it's a core class, and colleges want to see my earned grade in that class particularly. Won't seeing that I took this core class be enough though? I wish to study Environmental Science and Sustainability at Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (that's where I'll be applying ED in a couple years), so Physics isn't really majorly tied into my desired major. What do you think about putting it off until senior year? Will it hurt me, as I am planning on applying to an ivy?

I personally decided to take it this year (my junior year), but there were plenty of seniors in my class as well. I don’t think it will be too big of a deal. As long as its on your transcript by the time you graduate you should be good.

Unless you plan to be an engineer you should be fine. I know people that got into pre-med Ives taking regular Physics in senior year.

As long as you take the class you are fine. I’m going into engineering and I got no slack whatsoever for waiting to take physics.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I’m gonna wait until senior year for it. This was reassuring.
