so now it's second semester and i really dislike the writing seminar i'm in currently. i've only met one upperclassman so far who chose to do that but if i can't find a better one then i'd rather take a different one next semester. is it that big of a deal to do it later?

I suffered through a writing seminar I didn’t enjoy two years ago. I wanted to make sure I took it during my first semester at Penn, and thus signed up for whatever was left. With that said, the requirements of the writing seminar have changed over time. The longer you wait to take it, the more that can be added to it. I tranferred to Penn Fall 2008 and after the Spring 2009 semester, I believe a research paper component was added to it.

There is no right choice. I’d probably just get it over with again with the “it could be worse” attitude.

*Just want to add that the instructor was amazing, but I hated the topic. She did as much with it as she could, which made the thing bearable. If both instructor and topic are off, then I dunno what to do.

I don’t think I helped much but I hope I did.

how hard was it to get an A?

It depends on the instructor. I ended up with an A-. Your portfolio is supposedly read by several writing seminar instructors and they come up with a grade together, although final say is with your instructor.
