<p>They aren't things like CTY. I went on a National Geographic Student Expedition and just can't find away to work into my essays without going on a tangent. Can I put that down anywhere else on the common app?</p>
<p>You need to ask yourself why any college or university might care that you had done that particular summer activity. Is it related to your potential major? Is it the sort of thing that you had to apply for, and were selected out of a tough field of candidates? Is it the sort of thing that anyone can sign up for and participate in provided they have the interest and the money to pay for it?</p>
<p>I would put something like that under activities</p>
