Q about a waitinglist (course registration)

yeah. i wanna take Dr.Hodel's 103 class (that's only time i can take) and when i place that into my bookbag. it says "WL:5" (i assume there is already 5 ppl in a WL)

should i stay in WL? what's a chance i can get into that class??
and when time comes and i really need to register, can I register a filled class??
and what if i cant get into that class (and math is a requirement for freshmen at engineering school)??

please give me your insight :D thanks!

p.s : it's kinda and totally irrelevant, but do you think 32 course topics (and understanding of them) are necessary for 103??

I don't think you're allowed to stay on waitlists as a freshman because they want you to have your entire schedule figured out for when you arrive on campus. You can change it later, which i guess might allow you to monitor the waitlist. I'm pretty sure that that will be a tough class to get in to... Dr. Hodel is one of the better 103 teachers (from what I've read). I'm hoping to take 103 next semester with him.

who else's good for 103?
cuz i checked Ratemyprofessors.com and other professors have received... somewhat bad review

p.s : as an engineering major , i have to take math.
