S at admitted student event. Got the impression that students either weren't at top choice school, or Case was their reach school. Also, seemed to see mostly guys and was told that while historically lopsided, last year's freshman class was 50/50. Another concern is that while engineering is strong what about the strength of straight sciences or math? However, in its favor, he was very impressed and would like more information about the internship programs, the research options, and the advising for and placement successes for career and grad/professional programs. Got merit scholarship. Deciding between Wash U, Carleton, and 2 state schools with scholarships.

Students here definitely love it, whether it wasn’t their first choice or if it was a reach! Most schools are like that… look at any state school and plenty of students will tell you they had no choice but to go there because of money or because they didn’t get into any other schools. It all depends on who you talk to… Case was one of the many great schools I applied to (along with UVA, Michigan, BC, Georgetown, Penn, Northeastern, Loyola Chicago, Purdue, Binghamton, Drexel etc.), but I loved the school much more than so many of the others! Case has always historically been more men than women, but they’re trying very hard to appeal to both genders to make the class more even. All the programs at Case, large or small, are great! Both math and science (obviously, other than engineering), are really great. There are tons of internship and research options-- you can always look online or e-mail for more information, but if he decides to come to Case, there are tons of fairs at the beginning of the semester that hook you up with different jobs and stuff!
