Q about timing on when apps are due

My d is applying EA to one school (due 12/1) and ED to another (due 1/15)

Both are Common App schools. Is it safe to assume that the deadline is 11:59pm on the due date? Or is "close of business" the appropriate assumption?

-TIA
(I dearly hope it doesn't come down to this, but if it does......she'll be applying "regular" decision. Karma in action!)

You should always apply a day before the due date because servers may clog up and whatnot…but I think that’s the deadline. Best of luck!

I certainly hope d won’t wait till the last day, but my main question is whether the deadlines are midnight or COB (close of business).

TIA

11:59pm. “Close of business” could be interpreted too many ways for it to be a useful across-the-board deadline.

It is 11:59 p.m. of the date given. If you wait until then chances of committing a major error increase dramatically. You need to remember that by app deadline all must done – you must have had transcripts sent, any recommendations sent, test scores sent. Also, if you are doing an app that requires you to get a counselors form filled out and sent, that also has to be filled out and sent by deadline and sometimes that form is an unknown until you actually complete all other portions of the app on-line.
