Will Q-Drop (no penalty drop) affect my chances of getting into grad school?
I already have 4 Q-drops and is considering dropping another course this semester since it is not a requirement for graduation.

What is the reason for all these "Q-Drop"s?

Freshman year: English -> didn't like the class
Sophomore year: Diff Equation -> prof had strong accents
Junior year: research -> was working on 2 researches at the time, couldn't handle them both
Bioelectronics -> didn't do so well on the 1st exam

How about the course you are currently considering dropping?

the course that I am considering to drop: class is boring and pointless, basically a waste of time, and not required for graduation

I think it's a bad sign that you've been dropping courses every single year. If it was mostly early on, and you were switching majors or something, that would be no big deal. However, you've been dropping courses consistenly up through your senior year, including (what appears to be) a major course (that's not good if it is). I would be a tad suspicious if I were an adcom, honestly.

I see. Then I probably won't make another Q-drop.
But the previous 4 Q-drops, will that affect my chances a whole lot?

My overall GPR is 3.8/4.0
Major in BME and minor in Math
Have a publication in Neuroscience.
University Honors Program.
Received summer research grants and also obtained a research fellowship this year.
Have leadership positions in some organizations.
Received several awards and honors

I am aiming for BME Program at Washing U St. Louis
Should I explain it in my personal statement?

Well, then again, your academic record is very impressive, and that may dwarf the "Q-Drop" business significantly.

Hitomi,

Based on your record so far, I'd say that the "q-drops" or Ws or whatever they're called won't matter much. In fact, it's doubtful that most programs will really pay a whole lot of attention to them.

心配しないで!

To UCLAri

Thanks for the encouragement =)
