Q for those admitted: did you take SAT II exams?

I see that they are “recommended.” Does that mean an applicant doesn’t stand a chance of acceptance if they opt not to take them, or are the SAT IIs simply used for placement purposes?

Thanks!

I was admitted into SIS and I believe i took 3 SAT IIs, but they werent very good so...

i think when they say "recommended" they may use them to determine admission decisions in candidates that might otherwise be seemingly identical...so used to give a bit of an edge. also, yes, for placement, along with AP tests.

My daughter was admitted and she took two SAT II exams.

I was admitted & did not take the SAT II's.
