Q in RUSH

my answer key is messed up in my RUSH book. so does anyone know the process of solving the following for x, where e is the irrational constant

5e^2x - 2e^x = 20

ummm i dunno what test you’re taking (math ii?) but you could solve the equation by replacing e^x with y
so the equation is simplified to:
5(y^2) - 2y - 20 = 0
solve for y and then set e^x to y to solve for x

hope that helps

this is math 2. thanks a lot, though. i think i can go with the quadratic equation from there.

Another way:
graph y=5e^2x - 2e^x - 20
and find root(s).
