QB EA vs RD

From what I recall when I read the email about S applying to MIT after having not been matched, it indicated for him to use his QB app for EA (for obvious reasons), but I think it also said to reuse the same app for RD. S feels like the MIT app could portray him "better", but wouldn't offer anything significantly different to warrant the additional application.

Q 1 - can he use the MIT app to apply for RD or does he have to use only the QB app?

Q 2 - after the matching process (or even during?), are the QB applications evaluated by the regular admissions counselors or are they handled separately (for EA and/or RD)?

Thanks.

If he’s been rolled over to EA, he doesn’t need to do anything else. His QB app will be evaluated for EA, and he will be either admitted, denied, or deferred. If deferred to RD, his QB app will be evaluated again.

As far as I know, the QB applications are handled by the regular admissions staff, although it may be a subset of admissions officers who handle the matching (as is true for other processes, like transfers). I seem to recall that rolled-over QB applicants get re-read before EA selection committee – let me see if I can find the source I am trying to remember.
