Hey! I am an incoming transfer student and I was place in quad 3 on Livingston. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about this housing. how big are the rooms, bathrooms, social life etc ?

Rooms were doable. In the beginning, it was pretty hot at times because there was no AC, but that only last for a couple of weeks in the beginning and like maybe a combined two weeks at the end. Fans did help though, and the ceiling fan was a better at air circulation than a cooling device, but it did okay. If you have a certain corner room though, they were a lot larger that were almost found randomly since the Quad’s layout is different for every 2 or 3 buildings. The bathroom showers were pretty large but the bathrooms were pretty small so it was easy for the bathrooms to mist up if there wasn’t a door stopper.

In the past years before I lived there last year, the Quads were a lot more social because it was a mix of freshmen and uppers. Now it’s all uppers at Quad III, and at certain buildings it was really quiet because the layout was just odd. All of the buildings have around 5 rooms per floor, but one layout was just one long hallway (the more social ones) and the other was a small rectangle, which were a lot more quiet. I found that there were certain buildings who had really outgoing RA’s were a lot more social.

On top of that there’s like a kind of complicated basement system at Quad III, but that only took a matter of days to get used to. There, you will find the larger lounge (the only place that had air condition), the two laundry rooms (some of the soap dishes weren’t very clean), and a cafe that because of a lot of budget cuts thus accumulating to shortages, we didn’t get as much free drinks. And even then, that didn’t kick in until a while.

Like I said, Quads were doable and gets the job done. The bus stop convenience is really only if you’re not taking the bus during rush hours. If you’re going through rush hours, you can expect 80% of the time not getting in, and the other 20% really squeezing yourself in there.
