Quad

weird

in NY i wore long sleeves and shorts about 200 days a year....i wore sleeves about 320 days/year....i walked around in the snow shoeless in shorts (not a lot, but I'd run out the 30 metres and back to the mailbox).

we're not weird. we're Californians. actually, make that Southern Californians lol.

Po-tay-toe....po-ta-toe

hahaha

wow...when i tried to post the above "haha" i got a message saying that my post is too short. did you know that you need to have a 10 character minimum post???

yes (10 characters)

speaking of cold...
my hands get cold while i'm sitting here typing at the comp. it's 56 here. weird?

turn on the heat. put on a jacket. stop typing.

heater doesn't work. i am wearing a jacket and warm pants too. and if i were to stop typing, you wouldn't have the pleasure of my posts ^_^

oh no! what would i do then?

um.....sleep....like i should have been doing for hours

Also, if anyone wants to comment on food/dining halls/meal plans at Penn?

yeah it gets prety low in the tri-state area(NJ, NY CT for those who dont know) 20's at night, 30-40 in the morning 50-60 by afternoon. but I LOVE the cold. i cant wait for snow. i havent worn a jacket or long sleeve in a long time. how can 56 be cold?

you should have seen the pack of 9th, 10th grade girls with me up in Nashville. They thought 45 was cold as death. Floridians rolls eyes Never seen snow, lol. so sad. so, so sad.

in the quad (probably in all dorms really) how do the heaters work? do you control them? and how is it generally.. chilly at night? or you can make it warm? when I went to Brown for an official trip it was freezing in the dorms and the school controlled the heaters...

i pretty sure the dorms that surround the quad(hill i beleive its called) every room can control the temperature.

but in the quad do they control their own temperatures?

thats what i meant. each room has a heater. i think the range was liek 55-70 to soemthing. each room can be different. sorry for not being clearer.

yeah i live in the quad and you can control your own heat/air conditioning. I don't know about Hill but i know in some other dorms (like Stouffer) the school controls it for you which sucks.

As for food/meal plan, I have to say that is the only bad thing I have to say about Penn. Some people are able to stand the dining hall food but I think it's absolutely awful. I went to visit my friend at NYU and hers was much, much better. They do give you dining dollars that you can use at Tony Luke's, Subway, Starbucks, Au Bon Pain, and Houston Hall (which has made-to-order burgers, sandwiches, pasta, sushi, etc.) and that's all really good. The thing is, as a freshman you're forced to have a meal plan and the most dining dollars you can have is 400, so you really have to go to the dining hall fairly often. Also, if you don't live in Hill or KC, it gets really annoying to get to the dining hall since it's like two blocks away, especially if you're really lazy like me.

"how can 56 be cold?"

lol, hey, i've lived in cali all my life and whenever i travel it was to warm places - thailand and south of france. i can stand heat and humidity, but i'm a baby when it comes to cold! seriously, once it gets to about 60ish, you see some people at my school wearing scarves! (i don't though - i don't like scarves too much lol) sigh i'm gonna need more than mini skirts in my wardrobe if i move to PA....

thats good most people from california that i have met cant stand humidity. yeah you'll probably die if you try to wear mini-skirts all year in PA. scarves.... holy crap

haha, yea, i know it seems funny to people from the east coast. one of my friend's friends is from ohio, so he's wearing shorts all the time while we're freezing, laughing his head off at how sensitive we are to the cold >_< lol
