Quads and Triples for Freshmen

I’m filling out my housing application for next year (as a freshman) and was asked what preferences for living arrangements.

I was wondering what the layout for quads and natural triples are. Do they have a private bathroom (and a communal bathroom on the floor). Is it just one big dorm room that can fit the specific number of beds or is there a common room with attached two-person or single bedrooms?

Are these usually used for like parties because they are bigger?

Also if you had to go through this process again, what order would you put the rooms in?

There are different types of triple. Some do have 2 separate rooms and a private bathroom. Some are just a bigger room that has 3 beds, 3 desks all in one room. I am pretty sure all of the quads are just one big room, with 4 of everything. I know people in triples and quads, and it seems like it doesn’t really matter what you request. I live in a quad now and I like it, but there are pluses and minuses to every style of room. Doubles are fine, that is by far the most common. Upper has more triples and quads than Newton.

Where do you fill out the housing application? Is it in My ResLife?
If yes, how long did you wait for the application to complete after you submitted your deposit? Because right now, it says my application is started but not yet completed…

Thank you!

Thanks GreenApple! Do you find that people tend to use your room for parties?

Prbc,
I filled out my application in the My ResLife section. I submitted my deposit yesterday and was able to start filling out the housing application today. Mine also says that the application is started but not complete. I haven’t finished it yet though (I didn’t sign it at the end) so I don’t know when yours will say its completed. Sorry!

It closes after roommates are assigned sometime in August

Does anyone else have any opinions on whether or not I should request triples or quads?

Hey I am an incoming freshman next year and I was having the same dilemma. But then i thought about it and realized I would rather be safe and not request a triple. I hear the forced triples are pretty bad. There is always a chance that you will get an unforced triple.

I had the feeling that it only referred to a natural triple, so it wouldn’t be more likely to get a forced triple. I could be wrong though. Does anybody know how that works?

If you put triple, that would not mean a forced triple. I honestly feel like it doesn’t make a big difference what you request, I know people in all types of rooms and a lot of them didn’t get what they requested.
BCeagle92- quads aren’t always used for parties. It really depends if everyone in your room has the same friends or different friends. If you all have the same friends, people would more likely use your room to hang out, but if you guys all have different friends you’ll probably go to other places. It’s hard to know no what you want. Just put anything and you will end up liking what you get. With quads and triples, there are more people to coordinate with for times, going to bed at night and waking up. But, you have a lot more space.
