Qualification question - ap lang

When a prompt asks me to assert, challenge, or qualify a statement, what exactly does qualify mean? For example, take this prompt for example.

"Television watching is beneficial for American society".

Assert, challenge, or qualify this statement.

My idea for this was to assert but include exceptions, such as some shows have negative consequences on youth. I'm confused because my teacher told me this was a bad idea; she thought you should only recognize the extent of the prompt when qualifying; in other words, saying to the extreme (too much television watching) the prompt is bad. I think mine and my teacher's responses were adequate; but she didn't seem to think mine was by using categories. Could someone shed some light on this issue for me? Thanks!

Qualify = you explain what you believe to be the multiple sides to the argument.

For this example, if you were to qualify “Television watching is beneficial for American society”, then you would tell how television watching has some negative effects followed by what you believe to be its positive effects.
