Qualifications for merit aid

What are the average statistics for the highest award of merit aid (the 20,000 award, and the lowest award ( around 10,000)?

I doubt AU releases that sort of data, but your best source of info about merit awards would be the Admissions office.

First, American offers scholarships worth much less than $10,000. They grant merit awards from $2,000-$18,000. Second, while admissions or financial aid do not publish or generally give out statistics of those who received individual awards, one can estimate based on averages. For example, the average GPA is 3.7 and the average two-part SAT is 1286. You can estimate the award you could expect based on where you stand in comparison. If you are significantly above, you can expect one of the higher awards. To give you a more specific example, last year I entered with a 4.74 GPA and a 1380 SAT score. I received $14,000/year in merit aid. I hope this helps!

Thank you! Your 4.74 GPa… Is that weighted, and on what scale. Also, does american accepted weighted GPa and power score

My D, who is a sophomore this year, received a $20,000 Presidential scholarship ($20,000 per year, $10,000 per semester.) Her GPA was 4.1 (weighted) and her SAT was 2050/2400 and 1380/1600.

However, I think it changes from year to year, based on the applicant pool, so any info you get here will only be a guess about this year’s merit awards.

hello. is $20000 the top merit scholarship at AU?? do they have any room/board scholarships? I know the latter would be next to impossible to get but I want to take into account what max “could” be when running next price calculator. Thank you

I know $20,000/year for four years was the top merit award when my daughter, who’s now an AU undergrad, applied.

Thanks, Ran the Npc and it looks like AU will be too pricey then. appreciate the input
