Hey all,
I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding whether or not I qualify as a Texan Resident. I am an American citizen born and raised in Texas till the age of 10, and currently finishing my pre-medical studies and undergraduate degree at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. However, I am to apply through the TMDSAS to medical schools in Texas in May 2011, hoping to get in the following year, August 2012. I was hoping I may establish my residency by residing in Texas during my gap year but realized that during the time of application I would not have been there. My uncle, who has been in Texas for 25 years, is my legal guardian and I heard from somewhere that I may establish residency based on him. Is that true? If not, what can I do to qualify as a resident? After all, I am to be in Texas for more than 12 months by the time I get into medical school..
Thanks! :D

I had the same question re. my student qualifying as a Texas resident for application and tuition purposes. I called Baylor and they answered my question and discussed different scenarios. I called UTH and they were short with me and referred me to TMDSAS for residency qualifications. I did as told like the dutiful soul I am & called TMDSAS. They were quite helpful and guided me through their website to a specific area, the link below:

Good luck to you, good luck to my student!
