Hi i’m a NYS resident and I was wondering if I could get some school suggestions? I am eligible for EOP financially and most likely eligible academically.
My gpa is 88/100 UW (don’t know weighted). SAT is 470 CR, 620 M and 510 W. 23 ACT. Excellent personal essay and 2 good letter of recs.
I’m interested in studying either economics, applied mathematics or finance. Any school suggested would be greatly considered, thank you.
The state’s public colleges should certainly be on your list; they’ll be your best bang for the buck, especially Cornell. If you didn’t already know, specific colleges at Cornell U are New York State “contract” colleges, meaning that NYS residents’ cost of tuition is much, much lower than the COA for the private parts of Cornell. Admission to the NYS contract colleges is tremendously competitive, more so than Cornell generally. A GPA of 88 may not be enough to win admission to any part of Cornell, but do not be discouraged, there are excellent educations to be had at the SUNY campuses I listed below;
SUNY Plattsburgh
Cornell U (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences)
Cornell U (College of Human Ecology; Policy Analysis & Management major)
SUNY Buffalo
You didn’t say what you’re looking for in a school, but if you’re looking for a private school in the New York State, think about these places;
U of Rochester
Saint Lawrence University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Hobart and William Smith Colleges
Marist College
Bump
And…?
@LakeWashington I’ve decided to apply to SBU, Geneseo and Bing as eop. Albany I might do regular decision. Plus I just applied to Marist yesterday Saint Lawrence I’m also seriously considering so thank you!
Con much gusto! Good luck.
