I wondering whether there is a way to qualify for in-state tuition at Umich. Someone told me that it is possible within a year (without shifting to Michigan). Any inputs on this? Thx. (I’m out of state by the way)
It’s delineated well on their website:

Google is your friend.
It is not likely you may become in-state after 1 year.after enrollment. There are 3 main ways to be qualified for in-state tuition rate mostly based on conditions before enrollment.
Pretty much no chance of you getting in state tuition at Michigan. You will have to pay the out of state rate or go to your own state flagship.
No. If there were a back-door way of doing it, everyone would and nobody would be paying out-of-state tuition.
And FWIW, getting a Michigan driver’s license and/or registering to vote in Michigan do not make you a Michigan resident for the purpose of in-state tuition.
Cool then, Thanks for the clarification everyone, it’s a good thing I doubted the one who told me this.
