Quality control to Mechanical Engineering

Hello everyone, first post here. I am currently going to a community college with goal of transferring to a university to major in Mechanical Engineering. I am 27 years old and for the last ~6 years I have been working as a Quality Control Inspector for semiconductor machine shops. When I first starte it was just as a job, but over the years I eventually started to imagine myself as wanting to be an engineer. Would my current skill set as a QC help me in my goal to be a engineer? Will it look good on future resumes?

It can definitely help you if you can speak substantially about what you did in your work and what influenced you to go back to school to get a mechanical engineering degree.

It will help and it will look good on resumes! I’m sure the most useful thing on a transfer application will be a good community college GPA though, so don’t expect to get in to a good school just based on the fact that you’ve worked in QC.
