quality of dorms

what r the dorms at Rice like? in terms of livability

The dorms really vary. Each residential college is different and even within the residential college there are different types of rooms and layouts. It is hard to generalize. I wouldn't say the dorms are fancy or lavish, but they are OK. There are good public areas in each residential college, too.

I went down to Rice for Owl Weekend in March and stayed in a student's dorm room there. I have to say, I was very impressed by how big it was. I also thought the room was in pretty good condition. Although I must say that rooms vary there by college. I stayed in Brown, but I heard Martel and Jones were the best ones.

it kinda sucks that all housing cost the same regardless of where you live, i would love to have my own thermostat, instead of having one temperature setting for the whole college. Oh yeah, im at lovett, we may not have the best rooms, we sure have the most character.

do rice dorms have air conditioning?

I should hope so. There is no way in hell I would go there without AC.

yes, its just that at lovett we dont have individual thermostats.

its quite funny... where I live, even rice is nice and cool in the peak of summer :)
