Quality of Language Programs?

I am very interested in international affairs (as I bet many people are who go to GW), and I might want to consider transferring into the Elliott School after I start somewhere else.

However, I also want to dual minor in Chinese and Japanese so I am more marketable in the long run (and for personal pleasure). Are the language programs reputable? Even with the stellar IR program, I hope the language classes are challenging and taught by knowledgeable people.

same here, I am very interested in semitic languages (arabic and/or hebrew, but mainly arabic) , how good are the teachers there, and how high of a level can u get being taught there?

I am considering taking them as a minor btw*

I third the question. I want more information on the language placement testing for Arabic. I have been studying independently with a local prof and since I didn’t get HS credit for the studies, I hope GW will have testing to recognize my level. I read somewhere that GW also offers Persian, which I have just begun to look at.

Have you guys tried ratemyprofessors.com? They have a ton of professors listed.

Thx for the cite - it is a great source!
