Quality of life and undergraduate experience

Can you guys please tell me about the quality of life, undergrad experience, teacher to student interaction, and dorm life at the following universities? These are my considerations for a National university. Not in general

WashU
Notre Dame
Emory
Georgetown
Northwestern
Rice

This is a very broad question, and a lot of the information you’re looking for could be found with a bit of research on your own. Why not go to the individual school subforums each of these universities has on CC and read some of the threads there?

It’s hard finding the threads and sometimes people do not respond. I thought this might help more.

I’ve know several students who have gone to Rice and the thing they talk most about is their college system which has also has resident faculty. From they way they talk about it, the Rice band is pretty indicative of the spirit of the school. Now whether or not you consider that a good thing is another matter…

The part sadilly mentions about the college system at Rice is definitely true. The social life on campus revolves around the colleges in basically every way. I’m not so sure about your friends’ opinions on the band, however. In my experience, most Rice undergrads view the MOB as a kind of weird, insular group. They’re the nerdiest kids at a school full of nerds, if you will.

Rice is defintely rated as the #1 ‘Happiest Campus’ - certainly their inclusion from day one for all students would break you in nice and early…look to YouTube for ‘Owl week’…looked like a LOT of fun…too bad our son was not accepted there…good luck!
