Quality of Penn Professors

How easy is it to form really close relationships with Penn professors? I'm worried that Penn's size is also its worst enemy in this respect. Are they generally receptive to students and willing to go the extra mile to form those bonds with students and such?

On a side note, how is Penn's placement into graduate institutions?

professor quality varies widely, as you’d expect

some are very much research-focused and you know they’re only teaching because they have to

some are so incredibly devoted to their students that they’ll pull all-nighters on campus with those students, even when they’d be perfectly justified in going home and sleeping in their own beds

some are poor instructors but try really hard

and some just know so much and yet are so personable that you have ridiculous respect for them, but yet can manage to overcome that slight fear to get them to know your name

to an extent, though, it’s incumbent upon you to get to know your professors, especially in lecture-type classes where participation may not be that big
