quality of summer classes

Does the shorter period in which the suummer quarter take place affect how well you learn the material? Like if i took a class that i needed as a basis for future classes would i be better off taking it during the school year than the summer?

more specficially the class would be math 53

I think it depends on your learning styles. I took Calculus A, B and C in summer after my high school junior year. I was going very fast, but I learned the material well by doing lots of problem sets in a short period. For some other people, concepts might take longer to digest. In general, my rule of thumb is that if either the class is unimportant for your major, or you’re very confident in the class subject to learn it well in a short time, then go for summer.
