quandary: GMU vs VCU for conservation

Hey everyone, can anyone help me?

I'm transferring in January, and am conflicted between George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University. I'll be a junior, interested in conservation/wildlife science. I Did Not get into tech, or this decision would be easier.

My research yields:..GMU has their new Smithsonian tie-in, however VCU conducts actual research with wildlife, for ex. with birds. At both schools, I'd major in bio bc so i could focus on animals. I figure, VCU must have a good bio program bc of their pre-meds. And GMU's bio program doesn't seem to be anything to brag about...

My priority is to go to the best grad school. I don't know if that means i should consider "prestige" or if it doesn't matter bc I should try to transfer out ASAP to vtech anyway..

For your advice, thank you , thank you, thank you!

i have to decide in two days…anyone/anything?

check both schools acceptance rates to the grad programs you are interested in. Check what you can get for summer internships/jobs in your field because that will also be a boost to grad school admissions probably.

If you have specific grad schools in mind, why not call them and ask which programs they feel are most comprehensive in your field.

Otherwise, look at grading policies, number of students in your prospective major, graduation rates ( how easy for you to get the courses you need in the time you have)

You probably have a pretty good idea of all these things. Best way unless you have a gut feeling, is to make a pros and cons list for each school and which comes out ahead.

Best of luck.
