Is this major available for undergraduates? I was wondering because on the site it was listed under MBA or something.....

I'm pretty sure "Quantitative Analysis" is a major for graduate students. You may be able to follow a QA track as a Finance major in Tepper as an undergraduate.

Computational Finance is a major available for undergraduates.

Do investment banks and quant-oriented hedge funds hire many computational finance majors?

Well it's just one person, but...my son and roommate now in NYC both graduated from CMU in May. The roommate was a computational finance major, is i-bank first year analyst at Lehman Bros. His (roommate's) gpa was very high, near 4.0 plus he's very outgoing (great interview I'd assume).

Lehman? Wow, that's cool...thanks.

You will get great offers coming out of Carnegie Comp Fi. The only problem is Carnegie is in Pittsburgh or else id go...

U.S. News has a ranking of Undergraduate Quantitative Analysis programs, so therefore, it is an undergrad study.

not all U’s offer this major, but of those that do, CMU’s rank is third behind MIT and Penn.

wow this is an old thread, how things change. DS’s roommate (referenced above) sadly lost his job last fall, as did everyone at Lehman.
