Quantitative Reasoning A Requirement

I understand many options are available to fulfill the Quantitative Reasoning A requirement. I am transferring in as a sophomore and still have not taken a math class. I saw transfers don't necessarily have to take the math placement exam. However, Wisconsin is telling me it is a good idea. If I bomb the exam (which I probably will since I am TERRIBLE at math) can I still be placed in a class that fulfills the requirement or do I have to take another class as preparation for quantitative reasoning A? I was thinking of seeing if I could do a math class this summer at a University here at home. I will make sure it transfers credits. However, I am a little worried it won't because Quantitative Reasoning A seems pretty specific to UW-Madison.

Thanks

If you bomb the exam, you may need to take one or more classes before you can fulfill the Quantitative Reasoning A requirement.

Have you looked at the sample placement exam at testing.wisc.edu?

The math test is not that hard. I am terrible at math and I passed the QR-A requirement. I’d take it, if you bomb nothing bad happens to you.

One possible option I saw is a Philosophy class called Reason in Communication fulfills the requirement. Under the course listing the only prereq is it says “open to freshman.” Even if I bomb the exam could I still only take this class to fulfill the requirement since ANYBODY who is a student at Madison can sigh up for the class it looks like? Haven’t done math in a while but I will do some review before my exam at SOAR. Saw the practice exam online. Really trying to avoid having to take classes prior to Quan A if I can.

Really appreciate the help.

PS… If anyone has taken Reason in Communication how is it?
