I'm wondering if math alone (meaning, w/o complementary programming prowess) would be ok if I want to work as a quant. Do they really do mostly programming? Is investment banking different from quant jobs? I'm wondering what I could do with just a degree in math (and writing) if I despise programming? I used to be a CS major from UT and it almost ruined my sanity... I hear that physical modelling is almost similar to financial modelling. Is physics better than math in term of applicability in finace?

not okay. quant work generally involves more programming than math.

computer science, applied math/statistics, physics, and pure math are the best undergraduate majors for being a quant.

investment banking jobs have very little in common with quant jobs other than the employer name on your 6-figure analyst paycheck.
