How many classes/credits do you need by graduation?

way fewer than you will want to take
180 for a BA or BS
225 for BA and BS

believe me, when you look at all the classes out there, you will probably struggle to fit them in cuz there are so many awesome upperlevel classes

Awesome, thanks NJDS!

How many classes does 180 translate to, 45?

Depending on how many non-serious seminars or activity classes you take, you may take substantially less than 180 units in legit “classes.” If you want, the workload can be pretty easy. Like an English major I think is about one class per quarter at Stanford if I recall. In other words add in IHUM, PWR, GERs after that and you may only have to take around 100 units of actual classes (which is about 25 or so classes). Then you just fill the other 80 units with activity classes, seminars, really-easy classes, etc.
