<p>Thank you for your inquiry into Admission Policies at Queen’s University. </p>
<p>In regard to the scores that are required to be considered competitive for admission at Queen’s for students should have a minimum GPA of 2.7 (or higher, depending on the program), a minimum ACT score of 26 and the minimum score of 1200 on the SAT with no less than 580 in Critical Reading and 520 in Mathematics.</p>
<p>Admission is based on a combination of grades, academic test scores (if required) and the Personal Statement of Experience (PSE) and Supplementary Essay (if required by the program). All students applying to Queen’s must complete the mandatory Personal Statement of Experience. This is a short essay, generally around 300 words, which allows students to tell us what activities they have been committed to and are passionate about and what makes the student a good fit for Queen’s. This document allows Queen’s to assess applicants beyond simply their marks adn test scores. Students applying to Commerce, PhysEd, Kinesiology or Concurrent Education must also complete a program-specific Supplementary Essay (in addition to the PSE). All essays must be submitted online.</p>

<p>Queen’s admissions… You do realize, don’t you, that advertising such low minimums, which also do not at all reflect the actual real standards for admissions, makes your school seem particularly lame to American students (who will judge the quality of school by it’s selectivity). While I understand the minimums are largely historically set by the board of governors, it neither draws students to your school nor provides practically useful information to applicants. </p>
<p>If you are going to advertise minimums, how about taking a few extra seconds to also indicate recent prior year entrance averages?</p>

<p>I should note that we do not have set ‘minimum grades’ at Queen’s. As our applicant pool is very competitive, only the students with the strongest overall qualifiations (based on an assessment of their grades, PSE and Supplementary Essay and supplementary information) are selected for admisson. This is to say that students are encouraged to aim for top marks, not simply the minimum grades with which they will be considered. </p>

<p>The above link, unfortunately also doesn’t give a realistic idea to a US HS student who takes APs, SATs and ACTs.</p>
<p>@vinsim, I was admitted to Queen’s about 3 weeks ago. I got into Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts (I applied to both). I’m an American student. I got a 2040 on my SATs, I didn’t take ACTs, got a 4 on AP Chem, and a 5 on AP gov. I’m taking AP Psych, AP bio, and AP Physics C this year. </p>
<p>I had a 99 in calc, 96 in AP bio, 94 in Lit, 86 in AP Physics, and 90 in Psych. My GPA was a 3.6 or 3.7</p>
<p>I also got a scholarship which means that I was at the higher end of admission entry</p>

<p>It definitely helps to know your scores.</p>
<p>Since you have already been admitted, I am guessing they did not ask you for your 1st semester scores. </p>
<p>On SOLUS, it still shows my HS Transcript as pending (although I had sent it long time back). I will probably have to call them to check.</p>
