When I turned to a SAT Score Conversion Table(Blue Book, or the Real Questions), I saw 3 columns- Raw score/CR Scaled Score/ Writing Multiple Choice Scaled Score). Now, the problem I am concerned with is that for a Raw Score of 54 points, the Maths score is 800, for 53, is 790. But for 52, the maths scaled score is 760( this scale varies from test to test). If SAT claims that each question is worth the same credit, can anyone explain this inconsistency?

Also, I need some advice about skipping questions. I feel that if I skip those questions which I have problem working with, I can AT LEAST make sure that my raw score is not decreased. But I heard too many skipping affects the raw score too. Can anyone give me some advice with regards to skipping question in SAT(and the effect on each Section) pls?

In terms of the raw score, not the scaled score.

Your scores DO get affected when you skip, because you don’t get any points. Your TOTAL score is decreased every time you skip. Just think about the test as having a total of 2400 points when you being taking it. Every time you skip a question or get it wrong, you lose part of your 2400.

But I have heard of my friends who skipped 2/3 questions for Reading and still get 750/760…

Also, if the raw score and the scaled score does not tally, it isn’t fair to those who made only 1 mistake, because making 2 mistakes will lose proportionally “less” mark than making 1 single mistake according to the scaled score. Any idea?
