Ques. for those coming back from orientation.

Hey Guys,
how was Carolina Orientation? Do you have any tips, comments, concerns etc.?
I will be attending a session too...so just wanted to know..

Thanks.

anyone?,....So what did you guys do on the first day..? The second?

its been awhile since I've been to CTOPs, but since it sounds like you really really want to know, I'll try and answer your question.

The first day you check in, get your folder, nametag and then your student ID, then you get to hear a welcome to carolina pep thingy and then you go take your language placement test. You have some meeting with your orientation leader, free time, and listen to something about diversity or discrimination (i don't remember).

The second day you get your laptop and register for classes, thats it. I recommend you bring a backpack for your laptop so that when you get it you can go back to your room and put the laptop in your bag and then you can walk around the Pit with your back up instead of being like all the other freshies who carry those big boxes around with them which scream "I'm a freshmen look at me"

also, bring a good blanket, the dorms can get cold and they will only give you cheap sheets.

have fun and meet people, then leave and facebook all of them

I just git back from CTOPS,...

for those attending the next sessions.....GOOD LUCK,...!>!(LOL)

Yeah i just got back. My advice would be to have an idea of what you're going to try to register for before you get there. Oh and don't go to all the pointless info sessions (unless you have to), just walk around campus and meet people.

I suggest that you bring your parents... because they definitely don't tell kids the important stuff such as financial details, etc... I conferred with my mom after, and she was surprised to see they didn't go over that and other stuff with the CTOP'ers. So, I feel bad for the kids who didn't go with their parents.

And I'm not referring to the tuition info that can be looked up online. Besides registering for classes which was hectic, the only thing I personally took away from CTOPS was how to be comfortable on campus (you get used to it), and how to have fun on campus... or according to my mom, partying as it were.

(I'm not dissing CTOPS because I did have an OK time, I'm just being blunt. If you can bring your parents, do so lol)
