Hey guys, how are your questbridge college prep scholarships going? What do you think are your chances of getting in? I'm so freakin excited but I know 80% chance I'm not getting in but oh wells =]

I’m also applying for the the scholarship program. I sent my transcript and SAT scores in, but I completely forgot about my PSAT and AP scores… I haven’t even began the personal statements yet, but I’m on break so I’ll get to it this week.

I know I don’t stand a good chance, my SAT scores are embarrassing… I’m just hoping I can pull off a good essay.

I’m also applying. I’ve filled out everything in the application so far except the personal essays. I have such extreme writer’s block, and the deadline is in 4 days.
I feel like my grades and test scores aren’t going to be enough. ughhh, I wish I was smarter.

i don’t quite know what to feel because my guidance counselor still hasn’t faxed my transcripts yet… :P

and we’re on spring break until the 27th…

this could end badly. :(

Ah, I finally finished my essays and personal statements. They are definitely not my best work, but oh well, I’ll keep revising them until the deadline date. Now, I just gotta have my dad fill out the FA portion.

Anyone know the acceptance rate for the College Prep Scholarship Program? My grades, ecs, essays, SATs are all not that great :/

How many programs can we apply for?
and can we still apply if the programs overlap?

What did you guys write for your reasons?
boomboomboom…
you dont have to answer all of those questions

I haven’t read anything so far about the limit as to how many programs you can apply to. I’m applying to 3- Harvard, Stanford and Yale just in case I don’t get Harvard (which is the one I want the most)
Not sure what I put, but it was something about how I would do something w/ the knowledge I gained from attending… not very strong, imo.

Anyways, what are all of you guys hoping to get? (I don’t care much about any of the other awards besides the full ride to a college prep program)

@Chaskins: hahaha. Your checklist is opposite from me. I’m applying Yale, Stanford, and Harvard. Preference in that order ;)

I’m hoping to get the laptop/counseling/expense-paid college visit awards. It’s unlikely that I’ll get the summer program, so I’m already signed up for something else in case I don’t get the program.

Best of luck to everyone.

BTW, is it just me or is the QuestBridge website really slow for the last 4 hours?

I’m having the same problem. And all I have left to do it submit. Grr.
Writing the personal statement was almost physically painful.

Yup, best of luck to all. :D

I signed up for Stanford’s summer program, I was honestly too lazy to sign up for any more haha

Kennyla: For labtop, you meant the QFE awards, right? Which essay(s) did you do? I did the first generation one, but knowing that they pick only 1 winner for each essay, let’s just say I’m pretty hopeless in winning that.

Best of luck to all as well. The personal statements were a huge pain, most of mine were three incredibly long sentences x_x

BTW, I think I read somewhere that only 10 students get picked for the college prep scholarship.
Is there any truth to this? 10/4000+ is an insane amount of competition. :(

^ That’s false, it says on the Questbridge website:

“QuestBridge’s College Prep Scholarship provides more than 1,500 awards that give outstanding low-income high school juniors the knowledge they need to compete for admission to leading colleges.”

:)

Unless you’re talking about a certain section of the program?

@Chaskins: For summer programs, I think I read somewhere that it’s 50 this year. But idk from where.
The worst case scenario is, truly, 10/4000. That’s why I thought the chance of me making it isn’t that high.

@feedback: yes, it’s the Q for Excellence award. I’m also doing 1st gen college, but add Art and Physician to the mix.

QuestBridge is lagging so badly.

is anyone able to access the website?

no unforttunatelly :{ it totally crash because too many people on in the same time…

Thank god i submitted last week but i didnt edit anything yet…ugh i fail

What did you guys write about and Keep in touch and tell me if you guys got in~~~ i fail… haha

Is QuestBridge only for juniors and sophomores? I procrastinated on my app…

The app due today is only for juniors. The one in September is only for seniors.
