Questbridge 2012

I was also selected as a 2012 Questbridge College Prep Scholar!!! I was invited to a admissions conference at Northwestern University on June 23. I was also nominated for an all-expense-paid campus visit. Does anyone know why I was invited to Northwestern’s conference rather than Stanford’s or Princeton’s? Is it based on geographic location? I am closer to Northwestern than the other two. Or does it have to do with the type of applicant you are ( stonnger, weaker, etc.)? Northwestern is a tad bit easier to get accepted into than the other choices.
I hope I get one of the summer programs but doesn’t everyone? Anyways, I’m very happy with my award. Too bad I didn’t get a Quest For Excellence Award, telementoring, counseling, etc. Oh well!!!

@sweetie

i had the same question and called QuestBridge, they said it was a proximity thing. I was invited to Northwestern too, maybe we’ll see each other there! good luck on the summer program scholarship!

Well I got college prep scholar and fein fellow. That free laptop is nice. Does anybody know when they will send out the gift certificates for the computer

I just got accepted as a questbridge scholar. First of all, will colleges be impressed if they see this on my resume?.I looked at my acceptance email and I hope you guys can clarify. I said that I was not accepted in a. College summer program. Is this bad. Although I have a summer internship that Iplanting fully commit to, I just want to know . I mainly applied application because I wanted to do college visits I really want to attend rice university and I am wondering how do I make sure I get this is it.please to somebody tell me where do I go from here because I am totally confused your help is appreciated

MrAPMan- I’m confused by your confusion. o_O
So, did it clearly state, “You have not been chosen for a summer college program”? 'cause based on what I got, they haven’t released the results for that yet. So there’s still hope for you!
Did you get the 'nominated for an all-expense paid visit to one or more of our partner colleges" award or not? I’m confused. If they end up picking you in the end (either summer or later fall) then you could probably choose to visit Rice.
Good luck.

Congratulations to all the new QuestBridge scholars! I’m a parent sneaking in to send you a message from the future: two years ago my son got his invitation to the QuestBridge College Conference; a year ago he was having a tough time choosing among the four partner colleges he was accepted to; yesterday he finished his first year of classes at Yale. None of those things would have been true without QuestBridge; it opened his eyes to many possibilites.

Dreams (and dream schools) happen. QuestBridge helps.

Chaskins. About not getting to a college program this is what my email said, “only select a limited number of students for summer scholarships, and we received a record volume of applications” so is this good or bad. Also I did get nominated for an all expense paid visit. So do I now just wait to see what happens? The next step for this seems really confusing but I glad I got chosen.

I was named a 2012 college prep scholar and fein fellow, but my e-mail said absolutely nothing about being later notified about the summer programs though I entered for them. Is this the case with anyone else? Does that mean I definitely wasn’t chosen for a summer program?

@ OcarinaGirl

Same thing here mine didn’t say anything about summer programs even though in the original application I applied to some of them. My email said that I got a laptop, college admissions counseling, the Northwestern conference, and a nomination for a free college visit. Did your email say the same thing?

I’ll email them and find out

@ emblem101

Yep, I think we’re in the same boat. That’s exactly what mine said except I got the Princeton conference. All it said was to watch my inbox for more information about my awards, but I assumed they were talking about the fein fellow awards, and I just didn’t get a summer program. Now not so sure :confused: Please let me know if you find out anything!

Are you guys sure? Check the bottom of the email.
This is what mine stated, “Please note that College Prep Scholars selected for a scholarship to a college summer program will be contacted separately by mid-May.”

@ chaskins

Are you a Fein Fellow or just a College Prep Scholar?

That’s exactly what I got emblem101. Ughhh now I’m all on edge again!

Nope, just college prep scholar. Here’s my theory though. They obviously have to write different email drafts to send to different students based on whether they were nominated/rejected/whatever award they were chosen for.
So, maybe the “Please watch your inbox for e-mails with further information about your awards” part is simply a more summarized version of what I got.
Congratulations on your awards though. Seems like you were one of the few on CC to receive so many. :)

I’m hoping you’re right chaskins. It doesn’t seem like anyone else knows either way yet, so I don’t see why we would. Fingers crossed though.

I just found some contradicting information. On the Questbridge website, under the Summer Program heading, it says that people will be notified in April on whether they got the summer program. however in the emails that the College Prep Scholars got, it says mid-May so I’m not sure which one is correct.

All the emails seem very different and tailored to each applicant. My son’s is below:

Congratulations! Based on your outstanding application for the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship, we have selected you as a 2012 College Prep Scholar. We hope you are proud of this achievement. Please read on for more information.

The QuestBridge Team

Well after reading the thread College Prep Scholarships that chaskins provided a link to on page 5, I am beyond confused.

I know. It’s all very contradicting. I don’t even know what I should believe anymore.
I really really wanted to attend the college summer program I chose on the application, so I guess I’m still holding out hope that the people haven’t been selected already, but who knows.

@econrecon

Hope to see you too! Thanks for clearing that up. Good luck as well but at least we got the conference!
