I recently began my QuestBridge application, but I ran into a small problem.
My family is low income. My father is a factory worker providing for his wife and two children. Every year our income was less than $60,000. Except for 2014 (which is the year QuestBridge wants info on). My father worked overtime everyday, worked all holidays, etc. because we had some loans to pay off. So on his tax return, he earned over $60,000. I’m afraid QuestBridge will look at the wages he earned and not consider me low income. I need all the financial aid I can get, because my family cannot afford paying for my higher education. Any advice on how to convey this in the application process?
If there is some place in the income section for additional information, you can give the income for the couple of prior years and said that the income for 2014 was a special circumstance and say why like you did above. I do not believe that QB has any strict income cutoff. However, you should be aware that colleges base family contribution each year off the prior year earnings. You will have to tell them of special circumstances but there is no guarantee they will take that into consideration.
Also you should check the QB forum
