Can you tell me what a likely letter is, and when you receive them? Also, would you mind posting your stats? Thanks I am new to all this

hi kids :]
John Pulice, a Quest kid from this year, made a really great website that presents all this information in a super digestible way.

tada!
You have to be a member of the Facebook group, but that has a bunch of good discussions and knowledgeable answers too. So if you’re on Facebook, this is a very good representation of QuestScholars of '15.

p.s. wassup forthenguyen

Thanks for the link, leslunettes.

Also any news on the Quest for Excellence? If someone e-mailed them, that is.

A likely letter is basically an early acceptance letter that comes about 3 weeks before the regular decision date. My son received two of them, one each from Amherst and Williams. Stats: 36.0 ACT, 240 PSAT, dual 800 SAT IIs, 1/400 class rank, leadership in a couple ECs, peer tutoring at the AP level, and a customed-designed community service project. He decided to go to Brown.

hello questbridge finalists! how many of you were college prep scholarship winners? and how many of you actually went to the conferences at stanford or yale?

^
Hi! I was a Questbridge finalist and I also attended the conference Stanford. I have to say that attending the conference helped me a lot in understanding how the Match process worked and how FA works (I’m first gen so no one in my family knew about how to apply for Pell grants, etc).

And back to the main point of the thread…

I only applied to three schools through the Match process–Princeton, Stanford, Yale. Didn’t get matched with any.

I didn’t apply RD for Yale, but did for Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, and Brown. So my QB schools,

Accepted: Princeton
Waitlisted: Brown
Rejected: Stanford (</3), Columbia

I’m pretty sure Questbridge helped a lot! Very thankful and glad I took this opportunity. (:

My son was not a finalist either but I think Questbridge was helpful. He did not have to pay for his application fee to Yale or Northwestern. Due to cost, he only applied to 4 schools.

Accepted: Northwestern

Waitlisted: Brown and Yale

Rejected: Harvard (Non-QB)

He was called off the waitlist by Yale and that is here he will attend. They offered close to 92% of the COA so their package was much better than NU’s which was just under 80%.

I was a non-matched finalist and now I’m going to Brown off the waitlist.

Congratulations to everyone, matched or non-matched! I am sure you are all attending great schools and wish you all the best of luck.

I forgot to update awhile back…

Accepted
University of Hawaii at Hilo (Full-tuition scholarship) (Non-QB)
University of Hawaii at Manoa (Full-tuition scholarship + stipend) (Non-QB)
University of Portland (Non-QB)

Waitlisted

Rejected

how did you apply to schools other than querstbridge schools. my understanding is that if you are a finalist, you can’t apply to any other school unless you aren’t matched. help! I’m applying this fall and need clarification

The thing with me is that i didn’t do the match process but they still called my a finalist (basically means you are eligible to do the match if you want to). This way i was able to apply early action and regular decision to wherever. You get the same amount of aid.

@abiapples1 This isn’t a good thread for questions, but unless you are matched (which you’ll know around Dec. 1st) you can apply regular decision to any college, QB or not.
