@HERCULES_HERCULES After getting a 1370 after taking SAT after first time I was pretty disappointed, I get ACT multiple choice scores back on tuesday and I will be taking Physics, Math Level 2, and Spanish subject tests in june. I think the ACT is a little easier than SAT but the time is the real killer. My number 1 school is Stanford, followed by UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech.
@theboyoverthere QB seems to be especially forgiving of its applicants. I’m sure honesty wouldn’t do you any harm.
@HERCULES_HERCULES I scored a 1510 on the SAT and prefer it by far. I feel less rushed, and there’s more analysis than straight up memorization (they’re my strengths and weaknesses respectively). I’m happy with my score, but Mom wants me to retake in June because only taking one test in one sitting is supposedly sacrilege. Also taking AP Lang and APUSH this May, though I’m worried about APUSH because of a combination of my teacher, the school system (weird charter school) and my own faults. Expecting a 5 and a 2.
For college match, I’ll be applying to Bowdoin and Yale, though I want to try for Hamilton and Bates during RD as well.
Listen you can’t take a bigger L than what I took on my SAT. I almost cried. That day just wasn’t my day (a slight headache, nausea, and nervousness.) At one point, I was bubbling in my answers in the wrong section. So I think I might take the ACT in June along with 2-3 subject tests, I’m still contemplating. Chemistry, Biology and U.S History are the main contenders currently.
@HERCULES_HERCULES Just remember that everyone is always better in some aspect, just use your strengths to your advantage
@HERCULES_HERCULES I did not do too well on the ACT test. Hoping for the best.
@098tarik, Thank you for the encouragement. I think I’m going to use my essays to really shine through, but I am definitely going to try to get a 33-36 on my ACT. @theboyoverthere, the time messed with you?
@HERCULES_HERCULES Yes, I was rushing through everything.
@HERCULES_HERCULES D: that’s a rough day. If it happens a lot, maybe take the tests a few more times in search of better luck LOL. Most of the best colleges superscore anyway.
It was probably because I didn’t get much sleep the night before. The generic testing advice about getting a good night’s sleep and breakfast actually proved to be important.
I’m so nervous about standardized test ahhh!! Currently drowning in ec’s and I am taking the APUSH, Ap Lang, and Ap stats exams while also taking the SAT w the essay in those first two weeks of May. My school is also doing state testing those weeks so I’ll have exams for US history and Lang. I’m also taking the ACT in June, but I am so nervous!!! The math and science sections kill me. I hope I can get at least a 31 on it. Does anyone have any tips for time management? I’m a little swamped with work and have found it hard to find time to sleep and eat lol.
@uzbekistan08 Don’t take that SAT. Master the ACT, then master the SAT in the summer. Focus on your AP exams, they are only offered once a year. The SAT is offered 5-8 times a year. The ACT, 3-4.
Well, the thing is, I can’t take the SAT in the summer. The last chance I have is in May. I have mandatory CTSO training in June, and I’ll be out of the country in August. The last chance I have for the ACT is in June if I want to send those scores to QB when I apply for the National College Match. Otherwise, I’ll definitely take it in October if I still need to.
What is an “acceptable” range of ACT scores for QuestBridge?
@theboyoverthere For NCM, a 30 is a good score. The Middle 50% of 2016’s Finalist scored between 28-32. For College Prep, about the same. Questbridge doesn’t focus too much on test scores though.
Everyone did wonderful on the exam. I’m the one who should be crying. I got a 1260.
But in all honesty, I didn’t do much prep for Math (my weakness) and I’m retaking it in June. Should be much better. My essay went well: 7
Y’all are in range of 1500. I would kill for that score.
And I got a 3 on AP World, a test my teacher thought I would do perfect on. I did have an A+ throughout the year.
I still applied to QB tho (Not getting my hopes up tho now that I’m reading everyone’s stats). So keep strong guys!
@AlmightySadist
It’s a Holistic Review thus you are not out.
I am still kinda confused about the Middle 50%, can someone explain?
@theboyoverthere, it simply means 50% of accepted students scored between the range given. So for NCM, 50% of the finalist scored at or between 28-32. Meaning 50% scored either a 28, 29,30,31, or 32.
@HERCULES_HERCULES Thank you!
