@Hamlon Which airline??
@univbound101 I used this website called skiplagged. You have to mess around because some airlines fly at only smaller or larger airports not both. Cheapest was Spirit. It’s a pretty bad airline bc of hidden fees and late flights though.
@HERCULES_HERCULES I wrote about my immigration and how I loved doing scientific research. I “think” that my essay is powerful as I described how I fought for opportunities. I used this story in my application to SSP, didn’t get in. So I’m not sure whether my essay is good enough.
@HappySquirrel Definitely keep your hopes up! :^) SSP only has a 10% acceptance rate, versus Questbridge’s College Prep Scholarship acceptance rate of around 40%. I got rejected to SSP as well, so although I’m skeptical of getting into programs, I’m also somewhat optimistic.
@sugarysnow I’m optimistic about my essays but not much else. I don’t think my ACT and PSAT scores are all that great and the only Award I had down was an Academic Letter. :-<
@Naperthrill I didn’t have any test scores to submit. I didn’t put down many awards either.
@Hamlon, Good find! I’ve been looking out for flight bargains as prices are all over the place… Besides google flights and now skiplagged I found the ITA Matrix software (by google) to be very powerful as well. I’ve never done hidden city deals but a good primer for this and more is written in the Dan’s Deals blog (just google ---->) “Dan’s deals Here’s A Better Way To Save Money On Hidden-City Flights”. I am positive you won’t find a better fare than you did already but this might come in handy for others…
@Naperthrill If this helps, in 2016’s College Prep Scholar Profile, the middle 50% of accepted students got scores around 27-32. From that, you can judge yourself, and if you did get a score lower than 27, anything is possible and you should keep your hopes up. Also, essays play a huge role in Questbridge’s programs, so if you wrote a bomb.com biographical essay, there’s definitely a good chance you got in!
I’m a bit skeptical about my essay because I felt that I didn’t include too many hardships I went through; I mostly talked about being a minority and the health detriments in my father’s workforce, therefore leading to my interest in biomedical engineering to solve these issues. It’s a bit of a stretch, I know, but writing the essay was super hard for me, so it was bound to have some sort of flaw.
Can we update our test scores? I just got my april score back and i went up two points, but is there anyways to update my app?
@kassh4 I read somewhere that, once applications are closed, they will not accept updated scores. Congrats on going up though!
@kassh4 Unfortunately, you can’t update any part of the application anymore. If you’re going to do Questbridge’s College Match, at least you can write your better score then. Just as @Southern5062 said, congratulations! :^)
Yeah, I’m like most of you; I felt pretty confident in my stats. Essay? Not so much. I wrote about fighting for the wrong acceptance (acceptance based off of financial status) and how I overcame it. When I looked at the proof I found like 2 or 3 errors that neither word nor Grammarly (or myself) caught. Also, it just wasn’t my BEST work. I found out late about this so I didn’t really have time to send it to a bunch of different people and get their feedback. But oh well, my chances are what they are, and whether we get in or not, we’re still pretty exemplary in our efforts.
@CMKingOfFl I did ask about errors, they said that they don’t play into the decision, so don’t worry too much. I feel like decisions are coming out either tomorrow or Friday, so the wait is almost over anyway!
I did some research and QB tends to release it on April 22nd. This year the 22nd is a weekend, so that eliminates it. Back in 2012, the 22nd was on a weekend and they released it April 19th, the Thursday. Thursday and Friday are typically when results are released.
Has anyone else had a similar experience: I have recieved a lot emails from Questbridge partner schools and even got a mailer from Yale with a Qiestbridge stamp? These messages came from schools that I selected as interested on my QB application. Is this indicatove of my acceptance or is it just coincidental? Then again, has this happened to anyone else.
@univbound101 Oh gosh, you’re worrying me. I guess I didn’t get in. What schools exactly?
I’ve gotten actual mail from Rice and Oberlin, but I signed up to get Rice info.
Don’t worry @HERCULES_HERCULES I just got like three emails in a row and two mailers: University of Notre Dame, University of Chicago, Emory University, then Yale University and Amherst College
@univbound101 hmmm when was this? Specifically when was Emory because that is the only school on the list you’ve provided that I marked as interested. I think you’ve gotten in! Congratulations!!!
@MaybeHarvard2022 @francescawoodm @098tarik Being that you guys are the only known QB scholars did you guys receive these kinds of mailers and emails?
