Questbridge College Prep Scholars 2017 Applicant Thread

Does anyone know how many people applied this year?

@francescawoodm I applied for the sciences and the arts awards, but I don’t think I’ll get either considering that I rushed both of the essays. I’m not sure how many people applied this year, though. We probably can estimate based on 2016’s College Prep Scholars profile, in which there were 9,209 applicants, and 3,404 were chosen.

Should I apply to the STEM camps only if I’m 100% sure I’ll be available at that time? I’m still waiting for the decision of a program I applied not through Questbridge.

Has any of you applied to the STEM award summer programs? The deadline is coming, but I haven’t done any of the work yet because I’m hoping to hear back from a program I applied not via Questbridge(which isn’t going to happen before the Questbridge deadline). I kinda don’t want to apply bc I might not even qualify as a Questbridge prep scholar.

@HappySquirrel I applied for Biomedical and Surgical Research with Boston Leadership Institute, Marine Ecology Research Expedition - Expeditionary Summer Term, and University of Pennsylvania Management and Technology Summer Institute. The cynic in me is preparing myself that I may not be a Questbridge College Prep Scholar, but I applied for the awards and provided supplements just incase, because who knows? I think it’s a great opportunity, and even if you get rejected or don’t get into any of the programs, writing the essays will help you out in the long run. It’s obviously your choice though, and I hope you come to a conclusion soon! :^)

Have people already heard back? Someone just made a thread about summer program transportation.

I have not heard back from Questbridge! O:

@Hamlon @absolutevalue I haven’t gotten anything from Questbridge… Now I’m nervous :o

@Hamlon
I don’t think they have released any award notifications yet for 2017. I think the new transportation questbridge tread was meant to solicit responses from past years participants/Awardees.

@Volunteerism Thanks!!!

@sugarysnow Just submitted my essay for the Boston Leadership Institute. I also applied to the Yale program in the prep scholar application. And I’m nervous, too!

@HappySquirrel I really want to get into the Boston Leadership Institute :0 Seems really fun & relaxing, judging from the research I’ve done on it.

So I forgot to submit my supplement information (((: It’s ok I guess, maybe it wasn’t meant to be

HI Guys! Getting so anxious waiting for this! I think my application overall was pretty good - but they read so many great ones that I am not ‘overly-confident’. I scored well on the PSAT but have not taken the SAT yet so PSAT was my only official score to submit. Our income is low - although my mom did graduate from college. (So I Can’t claim to be ‘First Generation’.) Just never know how it will all play together but praying I make it (and that we all make it!)
Also - I applied for the Summer Program at Pratt Institute (Film / Video, Photography, Creative Writing ) and also one at Emory University for Writing for the Stage and Screen. Also the USA Award and Arts Award for Quest for Excellence.

@solarsystem Aw, I’m sorry to here that :^( Maybe you can still get the award, but just not necessarily the scholarship programs that they offer? I’m not sure how the supplemental requirements play out when it comes to that.

@Southern5062 :^) Definitely anxious as well. I don’t think you need to worry so much about the fact that you didn’t take the SAT’s because Questbridge is the type of program to judge more on your essays, so if you feel relatively confident about them, you have a shot at this! At first, I think I was a bit cocky in thinking that I would most likely get in, but after realizing that people who applied are just as smart and qualified as me, I’m cautiously optimistic. Good luck!

I have completed everything and anything there was for this program. I completed the summer college scholarship program and submitted before the deadline. It even said “thanks for submitting”. But today at 5 p.m., I recieved an email saying that I had not completed the application. Is there any way someone can help me on this or just lead me in the right direction???

@QUESTBR1DGE
You should have two “thanks for submitting”. One for the general application and another for the supplementals.

@QUESTBR1DGE Did it specify what part you were missing out in your application? If it didn’t and you’re confident that you didn’t miss anything, then you should probably email them.

Hi everyone! Just found this thread :'D

I… just realized I left a huge EC (10 years worth of learning and awards!) and another huge award off my application. And results are coming out within the next few weeks too… It’s probably too late to go back and ask if I can add it in LOL.

I never realized junior year would be this daunting. It’s the little things I think, like checking my email every half hour to see if I’ve gotten results of some sort. I hope that everyone else gets their sleep in during spring break! Remember to take care of yourself no matter what results you end up getting. Good luck everyone!
