Read the QB site again. It states clearly which schools will give non-finalists fee waivers. As far as having any benefit…you can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket.

Does QB look at URM hooks? I have at least decent scores (2150 SAT, 33 ACT [would have been 34 or 35 if I had realized that there were 15 extra questions on the science section that I never realized existed]), but I tried to play up my racial background (African-American, Native-American, and white) and my socioeconomic background to the best of my ability.

the application isn’t loading again :(, Friday is going to be hellish when everyone is trying to work on their application at once.

Hey guys quick question. Do you think receiving the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship would count as one of the academic honors they ask you to list?

^Someone, answer his question; I would like to know as well

@Metrical

I believe so!

Does anyone know what would occur in the following situation:

I am selected as a College Match Finalist. I rank 1. MIT (non-binding) 2. Stanford (non-binding)… 5. USC (Binding)

I then am informed that I have been accepted at MIT, Stanford, and USC. Will I be allowed to choose between MIT and Stanford because they are non-binding and were my highest ranked schools, will I be bound to MIT(because it was ranked 1st even though it isn’t binding), or will I be bound to USC?

You only get matched with one school. So you won’t find out whether you got into the other two. For example, you’re matched with MIT and you have the option to go there or to apply to other schools and wait to decide. Or you’re matched with Stanford, then you know you didn’t get matched with MIT (since it’s #2) and you have the same options as you did with MIT. If you’re matched with USC you have to go there. This isn’t like getting into schools or not, it’s being matched with the one that wants to give you a full ride and is the closest to the top of your list.

You would only notified of MIT, you wouldn’t know about the other 2 even if they did select you.

cross posted with Metrical

@ Cryrogenics
As your order of rank and their binding policies have it, you may choose between any one of these three. However, you MUST choose one of them. For example, you may choose between MIT and Stanford since they’re both non-binding, and even pass those to for USC. But, you may NOT turn down MIT and S and get away with turning down USC because USC is your next choice and it is binding. Make sense?

EDIT: I am wrong here, see GA2012 correction below.

Stem, you are incorrect. Even IF you ranked 8 schools and all notified QB that they wanted you during the Match round, you ONLY get told of the one school that wanted you and ranked the highest. You don’t choose anything during the Match round.

GA2012MOM

Really? I have read some other people on here saying that they were accepted to more than one school via QB, so I assumed that the match would also give you other options. But this may have been in the RD round.

Sorry then, and thanks for correcting me!

No problem, it is all very confusing. Just as an example, my daughter ranked IIRC 8 schools. She got a phone call on match day saying that her #1 school had chosen with her. The next day she went down her list and called the other 7 schools to withdraw (per QB rules.) It just so happened that the lady in admissions at her #4 schools told her good luck and that they had notified QB that they wanted her as well. Had that lady not said anything to her, we would have never known.

Hey guys. I just wanted to know yall’s opinion of whether I would get in or not?

You do not have to withdraw applications to non-binding schools… This seems to imply that you may refuse a non-binding school?

Did you not read what we wrote, Cryrogenics? Non-binding means you don’t have to go there if you get in, which means you can refuse it…

ahhhh only 2 more hours…

^lol, I feel bad for anyone who’s finishing up last, last minute. You can do ittt! :P

sent!! thanks supergrover :)

haha, congrats!
