I did not receive an email either. I tried emailing them, but they have not replied yet. I also need to know soon so I know whether or not to pay to send my SAT scores and CSS profile.

Last year, a few QB emails showed up in spam folders, so you might want to check there, if you haven’t gotten an email yet.

Yeah I’ve checked there too. I’m just so stressed because I’ve spent so much time on the Questbridge application and I just want to know if I am a finalist.

@lalule I would say your in as I see the same thing, but I don’t think you should send anything until you get a legit confirmation. @runnin You have to send both(SAT scores and CSS Profile). On whether your in or not, I would just chill and let it all play out since there’s nothing you can do. Call and email them Monday to find out whether your in or not(they didn’t confirm one of my recommendations I faxed and I emailed to find out why my online profiles says I didn’t have it. They promptly told me that I was wrong and they didn’t have it so I would have to send it in late with another form that had to explain why I was late. It was not until after my counselor called them herself that they finally took the time to find my recommendation so keep pushing the bureaucracy to get to the bottom of this ;p). I hope you guys get good news.

Yay! I’m a finalist! and I found out what the problem was with the email. I’m using a school email and sometimes it ‘quarantines’ emails that they think are viruses. These quarantine messages are usually sent to my inbox and the one I got today had the questbridge notification that I was suppose to get yesterday. @runnin20 My school uses gmail accounts so i don’t if thats whats happening to you too. @12momar Thanks for the advice :D

@cryo - I have contacted a couple of QB schools to ask if a 0 EFC is required (in short, no), but what they did say is that whether or not you are a QB finalist, the financial aid will be very similar. I know from reading the websites that schools like Yale, Harvard, Stanford, etc you would be able to attend for free (due to income) IF you are able to get accepted… and that is without being a QB finalist. So, do not dispair… you’ll be ok.

My school also uses gmail, but I did not get any emails that have to do with questbridge. Congrats for making it though.

FINALIST!
ACT: 25 ; GPA 4.46; class rank-9/380
8 AP courses, policy debate, math team, cross country
Also semi finalist with Posse…do you think I should drop out of posse and apply regular decision with QB? where do I have a better shot? I am a low income minority.
Do you think I have a shot at Northwestern or Brown with the QB boost?

Finalist! ACT 23 (worried, I did a retake today) GPA 4.73 class rank 44/1200
6 AP, Band, NHS, Distinguished Grad
Hoping for University of Chicago

I have been looking for the FB page, or a forum that is more active than this right now… can someone link me to that?

How do you submit recommendations for Princeton and Yale’s Common App?
And has anyone else gotten the “Yale ID”

^
Although it has been a few years since my D did QB, I do remember it took awhile for the Yale ID to come through, so just be patient for that.

I looked at the College-specific requirements just to make sure I knew what I was doing and I noticed that MIT states that “You do not need to submit an MIT online application.” Does that mean that I’m not supposed to fill out the essays, activities, short answer questions, etc. on the MyMIT application? I’m sure this sounds really dumb but I just want to be absolutely sure.

You do not have to complete the MIT app on MyMIT. Your QB app is used in lieu of the on-line MIT app. A good Techie always reads the directions - the QB page spells it all out for you regarding MIT requirements for regular admissions. My D is also a QB finalist (RD did not choose to match) and is applying there.
If you matched then you should have set up you EC interview by now.
If you are RD, you need to set it up by Dec. 10 - call your EC to do that.
Do the interview, it helps, greater % of acceptances involve applicants that interviewed.

I’m on campus from time to time, there. I’ve had a couple of tours of the Broad Institute. Buildings are phenomenal. I have an older D who is doing an athletic training clinical at MIT. Says the people there are great! Things get hairy during finals - student services periodically go around and distribute soap and toothpaste to students who are studying pervasively. First semester for freshman is now Pass / Fail, which I think is excellent.

While its not a QB school, you should still check out Northeastern. Great engineering programs and a cooperative program that will help you get a job. I have a friend whose S had perfect boards, perfect subject tests, took classes at MIT during the summers - and was deferred there. Ended up at Northeastern, where he is thriving, Gordon Mechanical Scholar, TA for a couple labs . . . and more.

A school is what you make of it. Good luck, follow your nose, but always read the directions first. Take care, MrVC

I am also a bit confused about the mymit account.
QB says,
“Log on to <a href=“MIT Admissions”>MIT Admissions; to create a MyMIT account. You do not need to submit an MIT online application. Don’t worry if you see your application listed as ‘‘Early Action’’ – this means we’ve received your Questbridge College Match application.”

Does this mean I don’t have to fill out Part 1 and 2 of the MyMIT application? If so, where can I find the application status if I didn’t fill out the MyMIT application? (mymit says I have to fill out part 1 to get the status updates)…so I am confused!!!

Have you registered and started your myMIT account?
and,
Are you doing college match, and ranked MIT?

If you have done both of these, by now you should know who your EC is, and scheduled your interview.

Again, only if you are a college match finalist.

If you are RD, you have until Dec. 10 to schedule your interview.

Regards,
Mr. VC

Mrvc,
I have registered my myMIT account and scheduled an interview. I am doing college match and ranked MIT. Still, I do not know where I can find the Application tracking that MIT refers to without filling out part 1/2 when it says "Don’t worry if you see your application listed as ‘‘Early Action’’

FINALIST :)

…is there a way to drop out of the college match round and just go on to regular decision (if i ranked colleges)? The reason I’m asking is that the partner colleges (except for brown, pomona, princeton, and yale… none of which i ranked) do not consider non-U.S. citizens and non-permanent residents for the match round. my family’s in the last stage of the permanent residency application process (it takes anywhere from 2 to 8 or more yrs), and when I emailed QB they said I probably wouldn’t be eligible (understandably). so i emailed them back earlier today asking if there was a way i could discontinue in the match round and just go on to regular decision… do any of yall know of similar circumstances or what I could do?

I’m sorry, ignore the above. QB replied to my email, and I’m definitely going through with the college match process. I apologize.

hey bluetaco2012, what did Questbridge say? I’m in a similar situation as you, but I knew the facts before so I ONLY ranked those 4 colleges. Did they change your rankings or tell you some other “special” way? lol

I’m in the same boat but there are other schools that take non residents/citizens for college match U Chicago being one of them, i checked their website.
