QuestBridge National College Match 2012-2013

I ranked Northwestern, didn’t get that email. Got the same one dannymanny did. Oh well, I just submitted my contract agreement for Williams ED anyways. Much congratulations to OcarinaGirl!

wait, how many of you all got an email from Columbia?

Thank you for the congratulations! :slight_smile: It’s all so unbelievable.
@dannymanny- I am positive that not getting this email in no way means you are basically denied. Northwestern accepts many quest finalists both through ED and RD every year. I think one reason why I was perhaps not matched was that my income was too high (61,000). I’ve read that northwestern has a lower cutoff than many partners but I ranked them anyway because I really loved the school. Don’t lose hope :slight_smile: you’ve definitely got a shot.

@coco101 Pretty sure we alllll got that email

@dannymanny, my S got your email too. I think that went to everyone who matched them, but I don’t think it’s a near-rejection at all. They want you to forward your app, but don’t want to guarantee anything.

@ocarina - Congrats!

Did anyone log into the UPenn portal this week? My S did and it shows his transcript missing (this info was not posted before the results). Now we’re wondering if he was even considered for match… the transcript was mailed the same day as the others, but of course there’s no way of knowing if they got it. Did anyone have anything similar happen? Or, did anyone get contacted by UPenn that they had missing material?

I ranked it… But didn’t get the 100 percent guarantee on addmission email

did anyone get an email from columbia???

NOT THIS ONE:
Congratulations on being named a QuestBridge Finalist! We know that it is a busy time of year as you make your final decisions about where to submit applications, and we are writing to provide additional information about applying to Columbia University for Regular Decision consideration.

Columbia University’s Regular Decision deadline is January 1, 2013. Columbia requires The Common Application (including official test scores from the College Board and/or ACT and all supporting school documentation: official transcripts, Secondary School Report and recommendation letters) as well as the Columbia University Supplement to The Common Application. If you have already submitted these materials for consideration through the Match Process, your application will be automatically reviewed during Regular Decision. Otherwise, you must submit these documents by the January 1 deadline to be considered for Regular Decision; all applicants will be able to track their materials online starting February 13. The QuestBridge Application is NOT reviewed for Regular Decision consideration, so we will not see any materials, short answers or essays that you submitted as part of your QuestBridge Application.

Since you are a QuestBridge Finalist, your Columbia application fee is waived should you choose to apply to the University. In submitting your application, please select “Other Fee Waiver.” If you do receive notification of a missing application fee, please e-mail us at ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu explaining that you are a QuestBridge finalist and requesting that the fee be waived.

For more information, please visit the QuestBridge website to see a full list of Columbia’s requirements. If you have any additional questions about the admissions and financial aid process and requirements, feel free to contact us by e-mail at questbridge@columbia.edu or by telephone at (212) 854-2522.

Best of luck with the remainder of your senior year.

Sincerely,

Kamilah Holder
Director of Multicultural Recruitment

@chillychilly yupp

Ocarina, congrats! I do not think it could be read any other way then as an ‘offer’.
Re: Penn: Last year my D’s transcript did not get to the right school at Penn (Wharton). This was a mistake caused by her HS I think. (I’ll never really know, but, oh well…if it was meant to be it would have been. Water under the bridge at this point!) I am assuming that sending transcripts to Penn is more complicated than at other schools?

@lesley
You got a diff email than that???

no, I got the same thing. :p

@Olipond, it would seem that the address on the QB website for transcripts does not forward to Wharton. S13 wants to be rolled over into regular decision, so hopefully we get more information. If Wharton isn’t an option for the match round, I’d like to let QB know.

I’m a finalist, accepted to Wesleyan, but they haven’t called or anything. Supposedly, they’re going to send out an admissions packet officially on Dec. 14.

Did anyone else get that information?

Congrats to everyone who accepted, and everyone who didn’t I wish you luck in all of your other applications!

@tori
I was matched to Wes as well and I got that same info’
WOOOH WES 2017

Anyone get this email from Rice?
Invitation-Only Chat With Rice University - December 11!

@charlieb320 good to know it made me kind of nervous that I didn’t get a call like the rest.
wooh! Did you know they have a Questbridge scholar group? It’s in their club section. So I guess I’ll be seeing you!

@xyclone I got that e-mail too but when I tried to log in, it said no more room sooo… i don’t know what to do haha

Hey quick question, for those that applied to Columbia, did you guys get a package in the mail from the office of admissions with informational booklets a few weeks after applying?

@xyclone I got it too. :p

@coco101 lawlz, yes. I hate how schools send you stuff after applying. >.<

Just got contacted to do an interview with Columbia! wooh:)

Olipond, I’m surprised by your referring Pomona as a luxury cruise. We are certainly blessed with a lot, but it’s insanely difficult academically…

Seriously, seriously, difficult academically.

I would nonetheless recommend all to apply to Pomona. It’s a wonderful school. I have friends fom all Questbridge schools (was an active member of the Facebook group) and I know my transition to college has been a lot more supportive and intimate than other colleges.

It’s also really easy to apply to. Pomona doesn’t require CSS profiles of those making under 40,000$, and all you need to do is forward a sheet to them with an optional, yet fun essay. Pomona is also one of the few colleges that is 100% need met with no loans and need blind for US Citizens, Residents, and International Students that attend a US high school.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the school or liberal art colleges in general.

To all those who got matched, I am very excited for you all! You will all be going to spectacular places. The journey will be hard, but your perseverance and courage will take you far.

To all those who got matched to Pomona (countrygal, I’m looking at you :D), we, the Quest Scholars of Pomona, are so excited for you all! Pomona is truly a gem of a place and I couldn’t envision myself being anywhere else. Please add yourself here:
